My personal statement: |

As a freshman in high school, I found pole vaulting by accident. While participating in cross-country, a teammate recommended I try pole vault in the spring track season. I fell in love with it immediately- the ability to compete with myself, against the bar, and try to go higher with each jump enveloped me, motivated me, and inspired me. I never looked back.
My work ethic both on and off the runway are very strong. My endurance and perseverance have earned me the nickname "Marathon Vaulter." With a limited background, I have reached great heights. This has translated into the classroom as well. I am disciplined, focused, positive, and passionate about my future as a pole-vaulter and as a collegiate athlete and student.

Attributes that will make me a good college student-athlete pole vaulter: |
Some attributes that will make me a good student and vaulter are that I have a very strong work ethic, I'm goal oriented, and I have high self expectations. These will all help contribute as my work ethic will help me achieve my goals, and my high self-expectations make sure I am putting the right amount of effort in to reach those expectations. I have been able to successfully manage my time between pole vaulting and school, while constantly improving in both. I have been able to do this for 3 years now, and mixing that with being goal oriented helps me accomplish what I need to accomplish.

I will be a good college teammate because: |
I will be a good college teammate because I have already had leadership experience throughout my school career. I was in ASB sophomore and junior year, and was elected to captain of the pole vault team my junior year. As captain, I help support my teammates in everything; I will give them small tips and give some experiences I have had for them to learn off of. I have always been a trustworthy person, but I am also honest about things going on. I am also very outgoing, so fitting in to the team dynamic would be no problem for me to do.

I am looking for a university and track and field program because: |
In the university I attend, I want to be able to achieve my academic goals as well as my pole vault goals. I want a university which is very strong academically, but is also diversified in its subjects of study and people that attend.

I am looking for a university and track and field program because: |
In the university that I attend, I want to be able to achieve my academic goals as well as my pole vault goals. I want a university, which is very strong academically, but is also diversified in its subjects of study and people that attend. In my track and field program, I am looking for something that is already well developed.
I do not want to be joining a track and field team that is poorly set up because I need certain equipment to help me achieve my goals. I also am looking for a strong coach who is willing to work with me, and one that is concentrated on helping both the team and individual goals.

My college goals are: |
My main college goal is to vault above 5 meters. I am looking for the ability to do that, while also getting a strong and complete college education that would help prepare me for a career as a CPA and small business owner. Having a mix of these two would allow me to do what I love and excel academically.

I am looking for a college pole vaulting coach that: |
I am looking for a coach who is willing to work with vaulters who have different styles of vaulting and who have learned in different ways. I am also looking for a coach who has experience coaching in college and has experience in many different levels of the vault. I am also looking for a coach who is supportive and does not knock their vaulters down when they do poorly, but helps them back up.

My pole vaulting strengths: |
My main pole vaulting strength is my ability to be coached. If I trust my coach, I will do almost anything they tell me to do, as long as it improves my vault. My work ethic also comes into play, as I have vaulted for 3 hours straight before, just to achieve a certain height. Some of my technical strengths are my inversion and my strong trail leg. I have been led to believe that these are extremely important, and I have worked for hours on end to make sure they are in tiptop shape.
My pole vaulting weaknesses: |
My main weakness is my physical limitations. I am obviously still growing, which means I am still developing muscle and will be held back by certain factors that involve more development
My pole vaulting will continue to improve because: |
I have a very goal oriented mind, and I will work extremely hard to reach those goals. If I have a certain height in mind, or a certain pole I have to get on, I will work tirelessly to get on that pole, or clear that next height. This combined with my work ethic means I will always continue to improve.
